Reliance Jio's high-speed broadband service, Jio GigaFiber, is expected to be available for users from the upcoming Diwali fest at almost half price of similar services offered by other companies, a report says. According to The Economic Times, Jio's broadband service, which also comes bundled with the internet-based television programming, is expected to be commercially rolled out before Diwali (November 7). Initially, it will be launched in metros and around top tier 1 and 2 cities.

The registration for Jio GigaFiber starts August 15. According to the report, Jio GigaFiber service's initial availability will depend on the volume of customer registrations.

Jio GigaFiber is expected to disrupt the broadband market by offering the service at 50% price of those offered by competitors. Currently, above 100 GB of broadband data pack at 100 Mbps speed is offered by cable operators for Rs 700-1000 per month. They also charge an addition Rs 250-300 for TV services.

Currently, JioGigaFiber preview offer is available for consumers. The preview offer provides "ultra high-speed internet up to 100Mbps for 90 days along with a monthly data quota of 100 GB and a complimentary access to a host of Jio's premium apps." If a user consumes 100 GB of data within a month, he/she can continue to enjoy the high-speed internet services by getting a complimentary data top-up of 40 GB via MyJio App or through Jio.com. There are no installation charges levied on the preview offer. However, a refundable security deposit of Rs.4,500 taken for the ONT device (GigaHub Home Gateway) is necessary to be paid through Debit card, Credit Card, Jio Money or PayTM.
Official Reliance Jio website says, "JioGigaFiber beats the rest because of its ultra fast upload and download speeds & effective functioning in merely 'milli seconds'. Now, imagine a high speed private internet highway right inside your home."

Reliance Jio Phone 2 will be available through flash sale on Jio.com at 12 PM, August 16. Jio Phone 2 price in India is Rs 2,999. The higher-end variant of Jio Phone, which was launched last year, comes with a horizontal screen display and a full QWERTY keyboard.

Reliance Jio has also announced that Facebook, YouTube and Google Maps will be available on Jio Phone starting August 15. WhatsApp will also be rolled out on JioPhone devices soon, though the company did not specify a timeline.

In terms of specifications, the successor to Jio Phone comes with dual-SIM compatibility. It sports a 2.4-inch QVGA display and runs KaiOS, which has announced a partnership with Google to bring all of its apps to the platform. Jio Phone 2 features 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage, expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. The phone is backed by a 2,000mAh battery.

JioPhone 2 will ship with WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube, Google Maps app. The phone gets a 2MP rear camera and a VGA front camera for. In terms of connectivity options, the JioPhone 2 supports 4G, VoLTE, VoWiFi, 3.5G, 2G, WiFi, LTE Cat4 DL, FM Radio, Bluetooth, GPS, and NFC.

Jio Phone 2 was announced at the company’s annual general meeting (AGM) in July this year. Jio had previously announced that Jio Phone 2 will be made available from August 15. Now, it looks like the company will begin with flash sale model for its new device, unlike Jio Phone, which needed to be pre-booked. The move suggests the company has limited stocks of Jio Phone 2 units.

Under the Jio digital pack, subscribers get 2GB of additional 4G data per day free of cost. The offer comes as a top-up plan on an already recharged data plan. So, with the unlimited calling, data pack and SMS benefits you get to have an additional 2GB daily data for the same amount. The offer is available via My Jio app. However, it is only available for select customers. The offer was expected to lose validity on 14 August, but now it expires on August 19, as mentioned in the app. You can check it in your My Jio app under your plans, as shown in the image. The Jio Digital Pack is also valid even if you do not have any pre-existing base plan.

The offer is only available for Reliance Jio prepaid customers. You can only avail the offer if you are already a subscriber to a recharge. There is no information on the user selection criteria for the extended offer. You can just consider yourself lucky if you get the offer, which now comes with an extended validity.

Telecom giant Reliance Jio has finally launched its next feature phone announced at its  RIL’s 41st Annual General Meeting in Mumbai and will go on sale from on August 16.
