Samsung sells 2 million Galaxy J8 and J6 phones in India

Samsung India has just issued a press release, stating that 2 million units of the Galaxy J8 and the Galaxy J6 have been sold. The company claimed the models were attracting 50,000 consumers a day since the launch of the J6 on May 22 and the arrival of the J8 at the start of this month.

The Samsung Galaxy J6 was the first of the affordable portfolio to sport the Infinity Display with 18.5:9 ratio and AMOLED panel. It runs on Exynos 7870 chipset and has 32 GB storage plus a slot for microSD card. There is one camera on the back - 13 MP f/1.9 unit. The J6 costs no more than INR15,990 ($233).

The Galaxy J8, on other hand, comes with dual cameras and bigger screen, although it still keeps the Infinity Display ratio. Specs-wise it comes with Snapdragon 450 and 4 GB RAM, while storage is 64 GB and expandable via a microSD slot.

The dual camera on the back is 16 MP + 5 MP setup and the whole package is powered by a 3,500 mAh battery. Samsung is selling the Galaxy J8 for INR18,990 (around $280) through offline stores and online retailers.

The Samsung Galaxy J6 and J8 are manufactured in the Noida plant that was expanded and reopened earlier this month to become world’s biggest smartphone factory.
