Nokia 9 rumor roundup: Features to expect

By now, we know that Nokia 9, the upcoming flagship smartphone is in the making. There are speculations that this smartphone will be launched later this year. The unique feature of this smartphone is its penta-lens camera module at its rear. We have already come across several leaks about this smartphone over the past few weeks revealing the features that we can expect from it.

Given that it is likely to set a new benchmark for smartphone cameras, here we have come up with a compilation of the recent rumors that we have seen and a roundup of what we can expect from the Nokia 9. Without further ado, let's take a look at the rumor roundup here.
Widgets Magazine

Penta-lens cameraThe recent leaks have shown a penta-lens camera module at the rear of the Nokia 9. There appear to be seven cutouts in a hexagonal arrangement along with the Zeiss branding. Of these, five are said to be camera sensors and the sixth one is believed to be the Xenon flash. For now, there is no clue on the seventh cutout.
There are speculations that these lenses will use the Miniature zoom camera technology patented by Zeiss. It is a mechanism that will make the primary wide-angle lens act as an image sensor while the others will revolve around it to give a zoom effect. Also, it is believed that the camera will provide variable focal lengths.

 Notch display remains doubtful
A recent concept render showed the presence of a waterdrop notch on top of the display housing the selfie camera and concealing the rest under it. On the contrary, a fresh report from China revealed the image of the alleged display panel of the Nokia 9 without a notch. So, the confusion regarding the presence of a notch prevails.

 4150mAh battery likely
One of the recent leaks revealed an image of the Nokia 9 showing the rear panel. Also, the image hinted at the presence of a capacious 4150mAh battery. If this report is authentic, then the smartphone can last over a day without any concerns related to the battery life. There are claims that this battery might include Quick Charge 4.0 support.

 2 storage variants expected
Nokia 9 is believed to be launched in two storage variants - 64GB and 128GB. Also, both the variants are said to be available in both single and dual-SIM configurations. We say so as a listing of the Samsung buyback program revealed these variants even before the launch of the smartphone.

 Rumored Nokia 9 specifications
While none of the specifications of the device are known for now, there are rumors that it might feature a glass back suggesting that theruld wirele support. And, the other speculations hint at the presence of an in-display fingerprint sensor, IP68 rating, a 6.01-inch display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, 256GB of storage space and 8GB of RAM.

Samsung sells 2 million Galaxy J8 and J6 phones in India

Samsung India has just issued a press release, stating that 2 million units of the Galaxy J8 and the Galaxy J6 have been sold. The company claimed the models were attracting 50,000 consumers a day since the launch of the J6 on May 22 and the arrival of the J8 at the start of this month.

The Samsung Galaxy J6 was the first of the affordable portfolio to sport the Infinity Display with 18.5:9 ratio and AMOLED panel. It runs on Exynos 7870 chipset and has 32 GB storage plus a slot for microSD card. There is one camera on the back - 13 MP f/1.9 unit. The J6 costs no more than INR15,990 ($233).

The Galaxy J8, on other hand, comes with dual cameras and bigger screen, although it still keeps the Infinity Display ratio. Specs-wise it comes with Snapdragon 450 and 4 GB RAM, while storage is 64 GB and expandable via a microSD slot.

The dual camera on the back is 16 MP + 5 MP setup and the whole package is powered by a 3,500 mAh battery. Samsung is selling the Galaxy J8 for INR18,990 (around $280) through offline stores and online retailers.

The Samsung Galaxy J6 and J8 are manufactured in the Noida plant that was expanded and reopened earlier this month to become world’s biggest smartphone factory.

This is the blue Xiaomi Mi A2, in pictures

Xiaomi is upping its international creds with the launch of the Mi A2. Here shown in its fetching blue finish.

The A2, which will also be available in gold and black finishes, will launch in Spain on 10 August... and we're hoping that the UK will be on the list to follow.

What's particularly interesting about the A2 is that it runs the Android One software platform, so banishes any unwanted and overcomplex interface. Yep, Xiaomi is keeping it largely Google for this mid-price phone.

With a starting price of €249 (for the 32GB storage model), the A2 certainly gives other brands, from the Moto G6 to the Nokia 7 Plus, a run for their money. Its all-aluminium body is a cut above in look and feel compared to typically more plasticky finishes at this price point.

But it's really that blue finish to the rear which stands out. Its metallic and not overly glossy, producing a lovely sheen when catching the light. The dual camera unit is deep black, while the front is a pure white to really help offset those colours.

The Mi A2's specification isn't half bad either. With a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor and 4GB RAM under the hood, the A2 marries a 3,010mAh battery for ample longevity, while a USB-C port promises speedy charging.

The thing that Xiaomi really wants to push to the fore in this phone is the dual camera specification though. With 12 + 20MP sensors and f/1.75 aperture lenses, plus heaps of software features for portrait modes, it's got the potential to outsmart its competition.

The Xiaomi Mi A2 will be available in Spain from 10 August, available in blue, black and gold finishes. It will be priced €249 with 32GB storage; €279 with 64GB storage (the one to buy!); and €349 with 128GB storage (and 6GB RAM).

Alldocube X tablet with Super-AMOLED display reaches 600% of the Indiegogo goal!

It is a common practice in smaller Chinese manufacturers lately to launch crowdfunding campaigns for their future devices. One of the is Alldocube that is participating on Indiegogo to fund its upcoming tablet, Alldocube X that will sport a 2.5K Super-AMOLED display. It’s been a month since the launch of the campaign and the project is already funded 600% of the original target, showing the need of the users for a powerful and affordable Android tablet.

What’s more, today we learned that from Alldocube that the X scores 103865 scores on Antutu and 3449 on Geekbench test with 1636 single and 3941 multi-core scores. Since it uses the same SoC as the Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 that scores lower on both tests (76273 on Antutu and 1604/3460 on Geekbench), it is safe to assume that the OS is very optimized for performance. Not only that but it cost less too ($219 on Indiegogo).

Besides performance, the Alldocube X has an excellent HiFi chip (AKM) and a Super-AMOLED display. Pay attention to the “Super” before AMOLED as Super-AMOLED panels have many benefits over simple AMOLED panels. A thinner panel, higher contrast, more power-efficient, higher touch sensitivity, fewer reflections, and higher refresh rate to name a few.

Alldocube X

The Alldocube X will come with the MT8176 SoC accompanied by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, expandable up to 128GB more via microSD. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, supports Pump Express 2.0 quick charge and comes with USB-C port and 8000mAh battery. Moreover, it has a fingerprint sensor. If you want to back the campaign and get it at a lower price than its official, visit the project page on Indiegogo.
